Expert seminar on the Victims’ Directive
 
The Criminal Justice Platform Europe is organising an expert seminar on the Victims’ Directive in Brussels on 23 February 2017, just one day after the European Day of Crime Victims. Save the date: more information will be available soon on the EFRJ website!
RJ WEEK 2016
   
The RJ WEEK 2016 is just over. Almost 40 events took place across Europe and beyond. The EFRJ organised three workshops in Belgium on the use of arts in conflict and justice settings. Our social media included pictures and information from our RJ community (#RJWeek). Thanks to everyone who contributed to further raising awareness about RJ!
IIRP Europe- Call for proposals
The International Institute for Restorative Practices (IIRP) Europe is organising a conference in Dublin (Ireland) on 9-10 May 2017. IIRP is now seeking proposals for sessions in three formats (Inform, Teach, Engage) around several key-issues that European countries are currently facing (e.g. radicalization, migration, human trafficking). Accepted presenters will receive a reduced registration rate: submit your proposal before 6 January!

Forgiveness project’s annual lecture
The Forgiveness Project uses the real stories of victims and perpetrators to explore concepts of forgiveness, and to encourage people to consider alternatives to resentment, retaliation and revenge. On 2 December, the Forgiveness Project will hold its 6th annual lecture in London.
    
Restorative approaches & harmful sexual behaviours
Restorative Solutions will hold a training course for Practitioners in Restorative Approaches and Harmful Sexual Behaviour on 16-18 January 2017 in Eastleigh (UK). The aim of the course is to enable participants to develop the knowledge and understanding necessary to use restorative approaches in cases of harmful sexual behaviour with adults.

Prison stories through the lens
On 7 December in London, a lecture will focus on the use of photography and film in criminal justice settings, looking at how different media can reveal life behind prison doors, and how film and photography can be powerful tools for sharing stories.
Course on theatre for offenders
The ‘Other Side of the Wall‘ is a 3-day course on the use of theatre and drama with offenders and young people at risk of offending (22-24 March 2017 in Birmingham; 26-28 April 2017 in Edinburgh). No previous drama or theatre experience is necessary, but a willingness to actively explore new methods of working is an essential requirement.
    
Summer courses on peacebuilding
Registration is now open for the 9th annual Canadian School of Peacebuilding (CSOP), which will be held on 12-16 and 19-23 June 2017 in Winnipeg, Canada.  This years’ five-day courses will touch on a range of topics, including RJ, indigenous stories, community development, trauma healing, biblical healing, arts and peacebuilding and peace skills.
   
Master in Children’s Rights
You can still register to the Master of Advanced Studies in Children’s Rights (MCR), an interdisciplinary part-time postgraduate programme in children’s rights, combining residential teaching and distance learning. MCR privileges both an international and an interdisciplinary approach to the study of children’s rights.
WMO’s symposium 
The World Mediation Organization is organising the WMO Symposium in Berlin on 17-19 October 2017, entitled ‘Integrated Mediation and Conflict Studies of International Interest’.
Moment of inspiration 
Ahmad Joudeh is a 26-year-old Syrian man using dance to escape the war in his country. He lost five relatives and his house was bombed because of the war, but he keeps on dancing in the ruins of his city, Damascus, and teaches dance to children and adults to help them to forget the miseries of war.
